Fine Touch Disposables supplies two types of LATEX GLOVE - POWDER FREE

Chlorinated
Non chlorinated

Chlorinated latex gloves

Chlorinated latex gloves have been dipped into a chlorinated solution, which makes the glove surface slippery, facilitating donning

Advantages of chlorination

Washing performed during the chlorination process reduces the level of latex proteins
- Fine Touch Disposables chlorinated gloves contain low levels of latex proteins: <50ug/g (ASTM D5712-99 without background subtraction)
- Less potential for allergic skin reactions
- Less potential for systemic allergic reactions

Disadvantages of chlorination

Excessive chlorination can adversely affect the physical properties of the latex eg. tensile strength, elasticity
Chlorination produces a slippery surface on the exterior and interior of the glove. Fine Touch Disposables chlorinated latex gloves have a textured outer surface to facilitate a better grip

How to tell if a latex glove has been chlorinated

During chlorination, immersion time and solution strength change the colour of the latex glove from a creamy white to a yellow. Longer immersion times and higher solution concentrations lead to a more yellow coloured glove.

Recommendation: Immersions times and chlorine concentrations should be tightly controlled.
Fine Touch Disposables chlorinated latex gloves are dipped ONCE only in a moderately concentrated chlorine solution

Non chlorinated latex gloves

Non chlorinated latex gloves have a synthetic polymer lining on the internal surface of the glove which facilitates donning.

Advantages

The polymer lining lies on the internal skin contacting surface of the finished glove and acts as a barrier between the users skin and the latex, thus reducing skin contact to the latex proteins
The exterior surface of the glove retains the tackiness of the latex, facilitating a better grip

Disadvantages
Latex protein levels higher than chlorinated latex gloves
- Fine Touch Disposables non chlorinated latex gloves contain latex protein levels 69.51ug/g (ASTM D5712-99 without background subtraction)
